I just proceeded to watch 2 PVRed episodes of "the rachel zoe show". So while my standards of high quality, educational television is dramatically teetering off into a sad depressing state, I can't help but wonder why I cannot turn it off. The show revolves around Rachel (a.k.a raisin face, harsh? hmmmm.... no) having her make up and hair done, talking on her phone in an irritating voice while on her way to kiss the asses of designers, picking out couture gowns for celebrity clients, either saying "I die" or "that's bananas" if it's a good one, and having a meltdown when something trivial goes wrong. All while wearing fur (even in hot LA) and huge sunglasses (even in the rain). Well this is all fine, unobtainable, and day-dream worthy, however my favorite to watch is the two assistants bicker in the designer clothes heaven of a studio/closet. Now that is funny tv. Pretty poor way to spend 2 hours of my night. I intend to regain my dignity by letting you know I also PVR Nova on PBS, I swear.

When it gets to be -30, then -6 in the span of two days, driving to school without windshield wiper fluid is a dangerous task. The car in front of you spits up dirt everywhere, and forget about changing lanes! Chances are a shoulder check is not going to help you see out of your dirty car windows, and rear and side view mirrors are obscured with dirt. I spent the day listening to everyone talking about their reading week destinations (Cancun, Tampa, the Dominican), and after throwing snow on my windshield in a feeble attempt to clean it before leaving the parking lot, dusting dirt off my coat and boots, I began to feel sorry for myself, and wondered why I wasn't going on a hot vacation. The Mutch family doesn't have a lot of experience with tropical destinations (Hawaii being an exception), but a little r&r would sure be nice. I decided if I could be anywhere right now (it changes on a day to day basis), I would like to drop everything and be back in Copenhagen for fashion week. Please?

it is my final semester as an undergrad at the lovely underfunded university of manitoba. While in previous semesters I could be heard running through the tunnels (which tended to leak from the ceiling on a rainy spring day, ironically right in front of the freeze tuition poster) in unnecessarily loud shoes off to my consecutive classes, however, this semester is different. My schedule resembles swiss cheese, actually, the holiest cheese you can think of. Classes at the crack of dawn, only to be followed by coma-inducing 3 hour spares, 5 days a week. Some would say that since I am graduating this year, having all this spare time on my hands would be an excellent time to prepare for my future and other endeavors. So, I have decided to list what a successful student would do, post 8:30 am class, pending 3 hour spare:

1. review entire lecture I just sat through half asleep.

2. complete homework I would tend to leave for the evening.

3. read lab overview before heading to afternoon lab, so "cookbooking it" would not be necessary.

4. study for MCAT (just for fun!)

however, this is more likely to happen:

1. dump books and papers off at a random table, and fan my ass down to the closest coffee locale.

2. ponder over cinnamon raisin bagel, or sesame. decide on frosted (not glazed, obviously) cinnamon bun.

3. sit down at desk, check email and facebook on phone. Begin various "I hate school" text messages to those in class.

4. make plans to find the new stella's location on campus (urban legend?). Prepare for a second breakfast.

5. after second breakfast, waste the next hour online shopping.

6. count the number of uggs seen on passing students.

7. grab another coffee on the way to second class of the day.

All in all, a mighty productive day if I do say so. It all depends on how ADD I feel. But one should always feel accomplished if they pull up to the university when its dark out, and head home when its dark out. That means something, right?

Blogging would be more fun and more frequent if my camera had not of been stolen!

An acquaintance took my camera from my purse on christmas eve. Lowest of the low. Perhaps I will have to make myself feel better by upgrading to a SLR which I will guard with my life, and women's self defense skills: a swift kick to the balls, knee to the nose, and eye gouging will protect my camera, so do not touch!

Stealing is something that just irritates me to no end. At my lovely place of employment, several occurrences of theft have taken place whilst all the employees are upstairs. This evening, someone had their nifty PSP stolen, not to mention the 100s of dollars, cameras, ipods, cellphones and other desirable objects that have gone missing. Mind you, these things had been locked in lockers with combination locks. It makes me wonder why anyone bothers to buy themselves anything nice these days, when people out there are so willing to help themselves to what is not theirs, apparently with no conscience.

After writing two midterms yesterday, I have come to the conclusion that this term I have experienced the polar opposites in my profs. One, is amazing, funny, genuinely nice, supplies you with old exams for practice, and tests you on only what you have learned in his course, no tricks. The other is horribly disorganized, boring, teaching highly detailed material with little enthusiasm, and apparently has a chip on his shoulder, considering how his human physiology midterm left many people upset to the extent of crying. I have no problem thinking outside the box, or having to apply my knowledge to answer a multiple choice question, but don't test me on something you haven't taught in class KAPEESH? Gawwwd. I am going to write this guy the worst review after this course is over, I'm going to make him cry.

My first choice for a halloween costume this year was to go as "that girl from university". I was prepared to borrow some uggs, some lulu lemon pants, a university hoodie, large pink backpack, and of course, the useless miniature purse. Most people wouldn't think I was dressed up, and that is the genius behind it! The joke is on 99.5% of the female population at my university. However, a problem in my plan was that I didn't know how to acquire said items without insulting certain people, and my intense exam schedule that is happily still existent post-halloween hinders my party potential. Regardless, after some time well wasted on an internet study break, I discover Dita Von Teese has the same idea as me. She's kind of a freaky-deak not in costume, and dated Marilyn Manson so I don't really know what to make of that... um,

after perusing elleuk.com i was extremely pleased to find the october cover girl is Alexa Chung. Possibly my favorite brit chic girl... ever. I could be the only person in north america that even remotely cares about her and the amazingly talented Alex Turner together, but I am okay with that. This photo shoot is more polished than Alexa's day to day style, but I'm digging the look, even if her style is self proclaimed "child in a grandma's clothes". Unfortunately, the UK edition costs a plump $10.95 here, but if you're looking for a fantastic way to elude homework and the like, the UK edition is the best read, cover to cover, no doubt!

Saw Yelle for free this week at the Montreal Francofolies festival! She is so cute, and really had the crowd going. It was a ton of fun to have Yelle's biggest fan ass-bumping, beer spilling, and screaming beside me. Regardless, it was a fantastic time. I am so smitten kitten with Montreal, the good times don't seem to be stopping. When one free festival ends here, another one begins. There is constantly something to do, see, drink. The culture is blowing my mind! C'est magnifique!

This afternoon a group of us made the trek to ikea on the outskirts of montreal. After taking the metro, a crazy highway bus ride was necessary to get there, full of loop de loops and motion sickness. I felt like I was in the movie "Speed" and if we slowed down below 50 km/hr the bus would explode. It was all worthwhile for the ikea eats, sheepskin rugs, and I got the Scandinavian lantern i've always wanted designed by Brylle/Jacobsen. Success, success!

Good old ikea food. So cheap, so good. Too bad I dropped the brioche on the ground after one bite.

This last week in Montreal has been really fun. I am finally getting into the swing of things here, even if I am sleep deprived. Sleeping on a dorm room bed that is actually covered in plastic (why, why you may ask? perhaps persistent bed wetting is a problem for university goers?) and is too small, except for the short french men, is not very much fun, but its getting tolerable.. especially when alcohol has been consumed prior to bedtime.

my food AND clothes pantry. calm down calm down, i know it's awesome...

On monday, I met up with a buddy from Rimouski, QC, and it was great to catch up. Raphael's in the know of the Montreal ice cream scene, and we went to Point-G on Mont Royal for gelati on waffles with nutella. Blew my mind. Kudos to Raph. We then went to the Juste Pour Rire festival on St. Denis and watched a comedian on the street.. too bad he spoke at light speed. I did have a translator present however, thanks Raph! (check out his work here.)

Lazy week day evenings consist of us getting up from a post-class nap, and then taking the metro to either get groceries, or to peruse the streets. We found an outdoor screening of my favourite movie Amelie in the gay village! Kim and I sat with our brownbagged beers like a lesbian couple and watched it.

Friday night was really random and fun. Ended up at a gay bar called Sky on St. Catherine. Saw a lot more people from the explore program there than I thought I would. Ha. Good fun. Round that up with some 99 cent pizza, and call it a night!

Went to S.A.T on St. Laurent friday night to see Crystal Castles. The place was packed, the sweat was prominent, the bathrooms unisex, and the drinks were a flowin'. Disappointing to wear a new dress to, since it now stinks like cigarettes and it is covered in spilt beer. Afterwards, we went to St. Denis 24 hour McDonalds... why does everyone (including me) harsh on the filet of fish? It has such a bad rap, but it is delicious, kudos Kimbo.

Saturday night was indian food, then a 2 hour long game of "would you rather" and a couple pitchers of sangria in the inner courtyard of St. Elizabeth pub. How cool... super packed with loud music... a mix of some shitty tunes and a couple good ones.

On wednesday, we went out on a "school outing" to Parc La Fontaine, to the outdoor Theatre de Verdue to see some contemporary dancers, who were a little too wackadoo for my taste. However, all was good and fun until it decided to shit rain on us, and of course we were unprepared without umbrellas. With a paper over my head, we dashed into the metro, and took it to St. Denis, where delicious poutine was purchased from Frites Alors. It's a good thing looking like a drowned rat and chowing down on a heart attack on a plate.

I was quite pleased to see Tuborg on St. Laurent.

We have arrived in montreal for our summer school program. It has been unbearably hot for the last couple of days, and we have been sleeping in cramped rooms with the most uncomfortable beds. Classes have been going decently, and everyone I have met, francophone or anglophone have been off the charts nice. Lots of new friends to make.

Perfume gives me a headache. But I bought new perfume anyways. A couple of weeks ago, I was in New York. After flying into Newark, New Jersey (my bi-polar, whiskey drinking in the garage boss' favourite city...enough said), I was blown away as I took the escalator up from Penn station onto 7th avenue, and thrown into the hustle and bustle of the city with a huge suitcase, lightly packed of course. After a couple sunny days, but a lot of rain, I saw a lot of New York, but I didn't see enough, therefore warranting a second trip... perhaps at the end of this summer? We shall see. Greenwich village was my favourite, with Marc Jacobs and Magnolia Bakery both on Bleecker St., how can you go wrong? I thought getting proposed to on the street by a bum was the weirdest thing I'd encounter while I was there, but no, only a rock god electric violin street busker. More on that later.

After receiving an ibook for my first year university (used mostly to surf the internet at school and write mediocre english papers), we have had an inseparable relationship since. When she received her "applesac" computer case, I carried her around campus like a baby in a snugglie, proud, even when people made rude comments like "that thing's a brick" or "whoa, that's an old one." When ibook fell ill a couple of weeks ago, due to a virus (yes, my mac had a virus) and a non working hard drive, I was devastated. I didn't really know what to do to pass my time besides pointless youtubing and blog surfing. Now that she's back (better than ever, might I add), we have decided to spend even more time together, and how is that possible you may ask? By blogging together!
